Capetown, South Africa - December 2007
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion.
People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love,
for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
-Nelson Mandela

during the apartheid years Robben Island became internationally known for its institutional brutality. the duty of those
who ran the Island and its prison was to isolate opponents of apartheid and to crush their morale.
Robben Island came to symbolize, not only for South Africa and the African continent,
but also for the entire world, the triumph of the human spirit over enormous hardship and adversity.
Nelson Mandela was held here from 1964-1982.

this was Mandela's cell
Michigan - I was there for 1 day and it snowed 6 inches that morning.
